Phoenix Enterprises is a social enterprise, that is a business whose sole purpose is to support and help adults from Swindon and Wiltshire who have a disability and/or mental health issues. We know that by creating a friendly and productive atmosphere we can support people to thrive and reach their potentials and believe this is a great way to generate unrestricted income that we can use to provide more services and support. In the past we have had additional private funding as donations or grants, but in recent years these have fallen away as austerity forces cutbacks forcing us to rely almost entirely on business income.
The Phoenix team offer companies from across Swindon and Wiltshire a very competitive mailing and packaging service at the highest of standards, easily comparable to a similar commercial firm. We can operate at scale as evidenced by an order of 1.9 million units that we fulfilled on behalf of a major national charity in 2015. The sense of enjoyment and personal fulfilment among the team at Phoenix (staff, service users and volunteers) busy packing envelopes or making boxes is palpable – they take pride in their work and rebuild their own personal pride and self-confidence at the same time.
All income is used for the benefit of our Service Users and we ensure that alongside our day-to-day activities we offer a fun and sociable element to our charity too. For example, we go on trips out to places like the seaside and offer social evenings. Whatever it takes to foster a social environment where lasting friendships are made.
